Renault Scenic2, Grand Scenic MK2 washer pump replacing, sprayers, windscreen wash, windscreen jets

Welcome

In my car windscreen washing system did not work properly. Symptoms were poor pressure of liquid coming out from jets, sometimes normal. sometimes less than 50%, sometimes no liquid coming from them at all; although the pump was working.

I thought it may be some dirt in sprayers. I blew compressed air thorough jets and this did not bring me any significant results. I was sure then it must get the new pump as I did not notice any leaks from pipes, pump, connections.

Pump it self is very cheap, around 5 eu (not the original one!!!).

Below step by step how to replace pump and jets in Scenic MK2.

Brand new pump and

 sprayers/jets.

You can easily access the pump by removing wheel on RHS,

mudguard and

bumper trim.

This is the best way to get to to the pump, unless you have very small hands and you will be able to maneuver them in tight area between washer bottle and bumper.

The pump is placed just across from the bottle. You may see it on inspection mirror.

I would advice you to open lid or remove washer bottle neck. It is hold by two hanger clips

Disconnect wire then pull pump out and drain remaining washer liquid, then remove white and black pipes

Cut about 10-15mm of pipes ends

Pour some water or washer liquid into white and black pipe and use compressor to blow the pipes. If you do not have compressor you may use spare wheel or go to petrol station...

Remove round seal from old pump and put it on the one

Connect pipes and then slide pump into washer bottle. Pour some liquid into bottle and check connections for leaks. If it is okey connect electric wire. Time for a test!

Thanks!

  1. Hello!

    What a brillant guide!!

Quick question, why does the wheelarch lining need to come off to access the washer pump, you seem to show the access is made from the front by removing the plastic. Or do you need to take the wheelarch lining off to remove the plastic piece?

    Thanks

    2. Yes, you can access the pump from the front panel, however I wasn't sure about the mounting so I decided to get there from the back. I also could check the washable bottle (reservoir)
      Thx

  3. hi
It goes over the wheel arch (it's hidden under the mudguard) then thorough the cabin (doorsteps) and then the end of the pipe is connected to the sprayer in high stop light. Hope it helps
    thanks

  4. In case of having a headlamp washer, the tank has two pumps? Can you tell me how it works? Thank you.

  5. Before replacing the pump, try cutting a couple of mm off the rubber shuttle inside the unit. Over time the rubber swells and blocks the flow.
